BOM (Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij / Brabant Development Agency)

BOM is a government-backed regional development and investment agency based in Tilburg, Netherlands, that invests in and supports startups and scale-ups with a strong link to the North Brabant region. It focuses on deep tech and AI (fundamental hardware, low-level software, and infrastructure-layer technologies), climate tech (decentralized and renewable energy systems, plant-based and circular-economy solutions), and medtech, life sciences and healthtech (medical devices, diagnostics, and therapy innovations). BOM backs scalable, defensible technology ventures from early stage through scale-up, generally taking a minority stake of no more than 49%, with an investment horizon of three to seven years and a target of market-rate returns; it does not require an extensive business plan but looks for a clear problem/customer fit, competitive differentiation, and traction to date. It invests between €200,000 and €5 million per company as patient public capital, typically alongside a network of more than 150 co-investors, and does not always lead rounds. Beyond capital, BOM offers venture development support including a VC Readiness Programme and other sector-specific venture-building programs, sector expertise, and network access. Founders can apply through an online investment check on BOM's website, after which the investment team follows up; BOM receives roughly 600–700 financing applications per year.
