Bpifrance

Bpifrance, the French public investment bank, manages a family of venture capital funds dedicated to cleantech, smart cities, and impact investing, active in the space since 2012 and headquartered in Maisons-Alfort, France. The strategy targets French and European startups across smart mobility, renewable energy and smart grids, green chemistry and agritech, circular economy and eco-design, smart buildings, and innovative city services. With roughly €300M under management across three funds, it writes tickets of €500k to €10M and invests from Series A through Series C, always alongside private co-investors rather than as a sole lead. Bpifrance positions itself as an active growth-stage partner, supporting portfolio companies through scale-up and international expansion; its named portfolio includes Ÿnsect, McPhy, Vulog, EasyMile, and Sencrop. Founders should note this is a co-investment vehicle suited to companies already raising priced rounds with other backers, not a pre-seed entry point.
