CapitalG is Alphabet's independent growth equity fund, founded in 2013 as Google Capital and rebranded in 2016. Alphabet serves as its sole limited partner, supplying patient, long-term capital. The fund targets growth-stage technology companies that have achieved product-market fit and are ready to scale, investing primarily at Series B through Series D. With approximately $7 billion in assets under management, CapitalG writes checks typically in the $50M–$200M range and makes roughly 7–8 new investments per year, maintaining a deliberately concentrated portfolio. In addition to capital, portfolio companies receive hands-on operational support and access to Google's expertise across engineering, go-to-market, talent, and partnerships with DeepMind, Search, Cloud, and YouTube. The fund operates out of the Ferry Building in San Francisco and has backed companies including Stripe, Databricks, Airbnb, CrowdStrike, Duolingo, Waymo, and Celero Communications, spanning enterprise software, AI, fintech, healthcare, robotics, energy, and space. CapitalG does not publish an open inbound application process.
