Ciena Ventures

Ciena Ventures is the corporate venture capital program of Ciena, the networking systems company based in Maryland, United States, and invests in early-stage companies and technology-focused venture funds. Its thesis covers the networking layer needed for artificial intelligence workloads: optical networking technologies and interconnects, next-generation data center architectures, and tools that advance network infrastructure and operations. It also looks at adjacent areas including computing, materials and emerging communications technologies. The program is meant to complement Ciena's own research and development and acquisitions, and it seeks startups whose technology could speed the development of new networking solutions. Ciena launched the program in September 2026 with an initial commitment of 200 million dollars, its first company-wide corporate venture effort, led by its corporate development team.
