COMPOST 2026 (US Composting Council Annual Conference)

The COMPOST 2026 conference—the 34th Annual Conference and Trade Show of the US Composting Council—took place February 2–5, 2026 at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, California. Recognized as the world's largest composting and organics recycling event, the conference served over 1,500 industry professionals from composting operations, municipal waste departments, equipment manufacturers, technology providers, and environmental organizations. The program featured intensive workshops, educational sessions, and facility tours showcasing three active composting and food waste processing operations in Sacramento County. Topics addressed food scrap diversion from landfills, yard waste composting at scale, anaerobic digestion technologies for renewable energy generation from organics, regulatory frameworks for organics recycling, quality standards for finished compost products, and climate mitigation strategies centered on reducing methane emissions from organic waste decomposition. The conference emphasized the critical role of composting infrastructure in achieving circular economy goals and meeting state and federal organics diversion mandates.
