Convective
InvestorActiveConvective Capital is a San Francisco–based venture capital firm investing in technologies that protect the physical world from disasters. Originally a specialist wildfire-technology investor, the firm has expanded its focus to the broader disaster-resilience market—including flood, storm, grid hardening, insurance technology, and risk measurement and mitigation—backing hardware, software, and financial-services companies. Founded by Managing Partner Bill Clerico, Convective invests at the pre-seed, seed, and Series A stages, writing seven-figure checks, with Fund II checks typically in the ~$2–5M range. It closed its $85M Fund II in May 2026, succeeding a $35M Fund I, and plans roughly 18 investments, with LPs including Stripe co-founders John and Patrick Collison, the Arbor Day Foundation, Pathstone, StepStone Group, and WovenEarth Ventures. The firm primarily invests in the US with selective international exposure. Founders building in resilience also gain access to Updraft, Convective's 10,000-person network of practitioners that has generated over $100M in revenue for portfolio companies.
