EIT RawMaterials

EIT RawMaterials is a European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) founded in 2015 and headquartered in Berlin, Germany. It operates as a pan-European innovation network focused on the raw materials value chain — covering exploration, mining, processing, recycling, and substitution of critical and advanced materials. The organisation runs an RM Accelerator programme structured in three phases (Invent, Build, Grow), with Phase 1 (Invent) lasting three months and providing €15,000 in funding to early-stage startups at TRL 4–6. It also issues regular open funding calls (KAVA calls) for innovation consortia and invests directly in startups and scale-ups, with investment sizes ranging from €0.5M to €1.5M for qualifying projects from early-stage through Series A. EIT RawMaterials leads the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA) under a mandate from the EU Commission and delivers funding under the Horizon Europe programme. To date it has supported 600+ startups and deployed €200M+ in startup investment across its network of 300+ partners spanning industry, academia, and research institutions.
