ENGIE New Ventures

ENGIE New Ventures is the corporate venture arm of the energy group ENGIE, working from Paris, San Francisco, Tel Aviv and Singapore and investing in startups worldwide. It backs cleantech companies whose technology helps decarbonize, digitize and decentralize the energy sector. Recent investments cover areas such as decarbonized heating and cooling, permanent carbon removal, CO2 capture from biogas, biogas production as renewable baseload power, hydrogen liquefaction, hydrothermal gasification and earth observation for environmental resource management. It looks for early-stage companies with technology that ENGIE can test and then deploy on its own assets. The fund takes minority stakes, with initial tickets of EUR 1M to 5M, and aims to sell once the technology is derisked and commercial traction is proven. Each investment comes with a collaboration roadmap that plans a pilot on ENGIE's operations and a possible rollout across ENGIE assets.
