Faber

Faber is a Lisbon-based early-stage venture capital firm investing in deep tech founders at the intersection of science and technology, with a focus on Applied Science & Digital Transformation (vertical AI, robotics, computational biology, novel computation) and Climate & Ocean Tech (blue biotech, ocean health, decarbonization, desalination). Founded in 2013, the firm invests at pre-seed and seed stages across Southern Europe, selectively expanding to other European countries. Its current vehicle, Faber Tech Fund III (Fund III), held a first close of €31 million in November 2024 targeting a total of €60 million, anchored by the European Investment Fund (EIF), the NATO Innovation Fund, and Portugal's Caixa Capital. The firm also operates a dedicated ocean-focused vehicle, Faber Blue Pioneers. First tickets are up to €2.5 million. Faber supports founders through an expert advisory network of scientists and domain specialists, and runs Entrepreneurship Programs in Portugal and Spain for MSc, PhD, and postdoc researchers. Notable portfolio companies include Sword Health, Unbabel, Smartex, Mitiga, and MicroHarvest.
