First Momentum Ventures

First Momentum Ventures is a German pre-seed venture capital firm founded in 2018 by Sebastian Böhmer and Andreas Fischer, both engineers by background. The firm invests €250k–€1.5M as a first check in technical B2B and deep tech startups across Europe, acting as either lead or co-investor. Its focus areas include AI and machine learning, climate and energy, advanced manufacturing, robotics, compute, aerospace, software infrastructure, and computational biology. The team — drawn from MIT, KIT, Max Planck, LMU, and other research institutions — emphasizes hands-on support covering talent recruitment, customer introductions, and follow-on fundraising. Fund II, a €35M oversubscribed vehicle closed in April 2025, targets up to 35 companies and is backed by family offices, industrial corporates, public institutions, and fund of funds. The firm also runs a pan-European Venture Scout network of 100+ scouts embedded in universities and research hubs, organizes the Spinoff Summit for early-stage academic entrepreneurship, and publishes the Deep Tech Hardware Napkin fundraising guide.
