Honda Xcelerator Ventures (HXV) is the global corporate venture capital and open innovation arm of Honda, operating under Honda Innovations Co., Ltd. Formally established as a program in 2023 — though rooted in Honda's Silicon Valley research presence since 2005 — HXV engages startups across all stages through direct equity investment, co-development, and strategic partnerships. Its mandate is to advance Honda's Vision 2050 goals of carbon neutrality and zero traffic fatalities. Investment focus spans five domains: Sustainability (electrification, new fuels, resource circulation), Mobility (land, air, sea, space), Robotics (automation, AI, telepresence), Manufacturing (embodied AI, advanced materials), and Emerging Technology (quantum, superconductors, next-gen computing). The fund is sized at up to $800M deployed over 10 years, with a stated sweet spot in early-stage startups. HXV also takes LP positions in external VC funds globally.
