Juniper VC (spun out of Climate Capital as Juniper Ventures) is a pre-seed venture fund accelerating the Bioindustrial Revolution, co-led by founders-turned-investors Jenny Kan and Michael Luciani. The firm's oversubscribed $10.6M debut fund backs biotech-meets-climate startups with checks of $100K-500K, targeting the 75% of global emissions that come from sectors like agriculture, materials, chemicals, and construction - areas that receive a disproportionately small share of climate tech investment. The fund has backed 40+ early-stage companies to date, including California Cultured (sustainable coffee and chocolate from plant cells) and Cache DNA (DNA/RNA storage), and believes engineered biology is the best emerging solution for decarbonizing heavy industry.
