KBC Focus Fund

KBC Focus Fund is a €50 million evergreen corporate venture capital fund managed by KBC Securities, the investment banking arm of KBC Group, and founded in 2016. It operates two compartments: one providing seed capital to companies selected from the Start it @KBC accelerator, and a second targeting growth-stage companies in nanotechnology, microelectronics, and industrial IoT across Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. Initial investments typically range from €500K to €2.5M, with total support of up to €5M over a company's lifecycle. The fund can act as lead or co-investor and does not exclude hardware-intensive businesses. KBC Securities also holds stakes in university spin-off funds including Gemma Frisius Fund, Qbic, and Imec.xpand, providing additional deal-flow insight. Portfolio companies gain access to KBC Group's broader network, M&A advisory, corporate finance, and potential IPO guidance.
