Matterwave Ventures

Matterwave Ventures is a Munich-based European venture capital firm that spun out from btov Partners in 2022, focusing on early-stage hardware and software companies in the industrial technologies space. The firm invests across three themes — Industrial Tech, Deep Tech, and Climate Tech — targeting companies that digitalize and decarbonize European industry and build resilient, sovereign supply chains. It backs startups at the seed and Series A stages with initial ticket sizes of €1M–€4M across 12 countries. With €250M in AUM and a team holding academic backgrounds in engineering, physics, and economics, Matterwave brings both technical depth and a broad industrial network. Its current vehicle is the Matterwave Industrial Technologies II fund, which had a first close at €75M targeting €130M in total. Portfolio companies span semiconductors, photonics, quantum computing, space tech, robotics, industrial automation, and climate solutions.
