National Energy Codes Conference

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and co-led by ACEEE, NASEO, USDN, and ASHRAE, the National Energy Codes Conference brings together state and municipal code officials, builders, architects, and building policy experts to strengthen energy codes and accelerate building decarbonization. The conference addresses International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and ASHRAE 90.1 model code updates, compliance and enforcement strategies, and emerging standards for net-zero energy performance, all-electric building systems, and embodied carbon accounting. Sessions cover code implementation pathways, training for code adoption at state and local levels, integration of EV charging infrastructure, heat pump transition support, and resilience requirements. Supported by the Department of Energy's Resilient and Efficient Codes Implementation (RECI) program covering 26 states and the District of Columbia, the conference facilitates knowledge-sharing on policy mechanisms driving building sector emissions reductions.
