Positron Ventures

Positron Ventures is a Amsterdam-based (pre-)seed venture fund focused on European science startups tackling major global challenges. Founded in 2021 by Joseph Peeraer and Gijs van der Hulst, the firm targets scientist-entrepreneurs across the natural sciences — including quantum computing, nuclear energy, advanced materials, biotech, and climate tech — and typically acts as the first institutional investor, often leading pre-seed and seed rounds. Initial ticket sizes range from €250K to €3M, with maximum exposure of €8M per portfolio company. The fund size is reported at approximately €75M. Beyond capital, Positron provides hands-on support covering team building, strategy, communications, and network introductions, and runs regular office hours for scientists considering entrepreneurship.
