QBIC
InvestorActiveQbic Venture Partners is a Belgium-based, sector-agnostic seed and early-stage venture capital fund headquartered in St-Denijs-Westrem (Ghent), focused on transforming deep tech and life sciences research breakthroughs into commercially viable companies. Founded in 2012, Qbic is one of Europe's largest inter-university spin-off funds, investing primarily in knowledge-partner spin-offs and start-ups with strong R&D ties to its network of Belgian universities, research institutes, and hospitals (including UGent, VUB, UAntwerpen, UHasselt, ULiège, imec, and VITO). The firm invests across biotech, healthtech, deeptech, and software, with check sizes typically ranging from €100K to €1.5M, and generally participates in a company's first external financing round with capacity to follow on through subsequent rounds. Qbic manages roughly €190M across three vintages: Qbic I (€40M, 2012), Qbic II (~€60M, 2017), and Qbic III (~€90M, final close 2022), the latter backed by the European Investment Fund under InvestEU. Founders apply via direct outreach through qbic.be/contact; rolling intake, no fixed deadlines.
