Funding for Innovators is UnternehmerTUM's pre-seed/seed fund, based in Garching (Munich), Germany, and affiliated with the Technical University of Munich (TUM) ecosystem. It operates as a highly selective, first-institutional investor targeting early-stage B2B deep-tech startups with scalable, billion-euro-potential technologies. Capital is deployed via convertible loans or straight equity on founder-friendly terms, including a standard Most Favoured Nation (MFN) clause with automatic conversion at the first qualified financing round. Funded startups are automatically invited to pitch at the XPRENEURS incubator program. In addition to its investment activity, the fund runs a separate Prototyping Grant program offering equity-free grants of up to €5,000 to early-stage teams and student initiatives connected to the TUM/UnternehmerTUM/MakerSpace ecosystem; applications open twice per year. ESG criteria are considered in all investment decisions. Founders can introduce their company via a Typeform application linked on the homepage.
