Virginia Venture Partners

Virginia Venture Partners (VVP) is the direct venture capital investment program of the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC), the nonprofit operations arm of the Virginia Innovation Partnership Authority (VIPA). Funded in part through the U.S. Treasury's SSBCI program, VVP invests exclusively in Virginia-headquartered startups across technology, cybersecurity, life sciences, energy, and aerospace. It offers four funding tiers by company maturity: a $50,000 Launch Grant (pre-MVP, quarterly competitive cycles, 1:1 match required); a Launch Note of up to $150,000 via convertible note (uncapped, 20% discount, 4% interest, 2:1 match required, rolling applications); a Pre-Seed investment of up to $250,000 for companies raising $750K–$2M; and a Seed investment of $500K–$1M for companies raising $2–$10M. Investment decisions are supported by an independent Investment Advisory Board of regional entrepreneurs, angels, and VC firms. VVP also manages the Virginia Invests fund-of-funds program, which co-invests alongside external VC fund managers. Applications for Pre-Seed and Seed are accepted on a rolling basis; Launch Grant applications are reviewed quarterly.
