WovenEarth Ventures is a women-led, boutique fund-of-funds manager headquartered in Palo Alto, California, focused exclusively on US early-stage climate tech venture capital. Founded in 2022 by Jane Woodward (Stanford adjunct faculty and 35+ year energy investor), Mauricia Geissler (former CIO of Amherst College), and Denise Miller (energy transition strategist), the firm provides institutional and impact-oriented investors with diversified, risk-managed exposure to the climate tech sector by investing in multiple early-stage VC fund managers rather than directly in companies. Fund I closed at $152M in January 2024, investing across 13 US-based VC fund managers—both generalist decarbonization investors and domain-specific managers covering water, agriculture, wildfire, and digital solutions—targeting exposure to 300+ underlying portfolio companies. The firm also makes opportunistic co-investments alongside its underlying managers. Fund II is currently raising with a $300M target. LPs include endowments from Boston University, Northwestern University, and Penn State, as well as foundations and corporates. Investor education via quarterly workshops is a core program element.
