Formerly known as Empath Ventures, the firm invests in startups at the intersection of life sciences, AI, hardware, software, deep tech, and health tech under a thesis it calls 'Human 3' — a framework centered on advancing human health, wellbeing, and performance. Portfolio companies span neurotechnology (brain-computer interfaces, neuromodulation), drug discovery, psychedelic therapeutics, genetic medicine, and biosensors, with investments including TippingPoint Biosciences, Coherence, NeuroBionics, Motif, Synchron, and Mindstate Design Labs. The firm is led by Founding Partner Brom Rector (AI/ML) and Partner Sam Rector (medicinal chemistry, psychoactive pharmacology), with scientific advisory from Li-Huei Tsai, PhD, Director of MIT's Aging Brain Initiative. XEIA operates at least two funds: the original Empath Ventures Fund (now closed) and XEIA Venture Partners Fund II.
