DeepTechXL

DeepTechXL is a Dutch venture capital fund headquartered at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, focused exclusively on deep-tech startups in the Netherlands. Its inaugural fund (DeepTechXL Fund I) closed in 2024 at €110 million, backed by strategic and institutional investors including ASML, Philips, TNO, and Invest-NL, alongside a €9 million seed-stage loan from the Dutch government's RVO. The fund targets early-stage companies leveraging key enabling technologies — Advanced Materials, Nanotechnologies, Photonics, Quantum, Digital Technologies, and Engineering & Fabrication — that address societal themes of energy transition, security, health & care, and agriculture/water/food. It invests from pre-seed through Series A–C: seed tickets range from €100K to €2M across approximately 20 companies, with follow-on rounds in ~15 of those up to 15% of total capital per company. DeepTechXL intends to lead at Series A and B and co-invest at Series C. The fund operates in close partnership with the HighTechXL venture builder, which runs a nine-month venture-building program sourcing IP from top research institutes.
