Accelerator, Incubator, FellowshipActiveThe Electrochemistry Foundry (ECF) is a nonprofit shared-use battery pilot manufacturing facility located in Hayward, California, designed to help battery and electrochemical technology companies bridge the gap between lab-scale discovery and commercial production. Backed by a $28 million grant from the California Energy Commission, ECF offers open-access infrastructure including electrode fabrication, pouch and cylindrical cell assembly, formation and performance testing, process development, and flexible lab and office space. The 20,000-square-foot facility is scheduled for completion in late 2026, with first users expected in Q1 2027. Co-founded by Dr. Brenna Teigler (formerly of Activate and Cyclotron Road) and Richard Wang (founder of Cuberg, acquired by Northvolt), ECF partners with UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, and workforce development organizations to serve startups, researchers, and established companies seeking pilot-scale electrochemical manufacturing and testing capacity without the burden of building proprietary facilities. ECF is currently accepting expressions of interest from prospective users.
