Front Row Ventures (FRV) is Canada's first student-run venture capital fund, founded in 2016 and headquartered in Montreal, Quebec. The fund is operated by student investment teams active on 24+ university campuses across Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta. FRV is an early-stage, industry-agnostic investor focused exclusively on startups where at least one founding team member is a current undergraduate or graduate student. It backs student founders with a $50,000 investment via a SAFE on founder-friendly terms. The fund has a reported size of approximately $5.5M and has made 60+ investments to date. The application process is open and rolling via an online form, with the full process from application to funding typically taking around two months. FRV also provides portfolio companies with access to world-class mentors and a network of sponsors.
