The Hardware Catalyst Initiative is Canada's only incubator dedicated to hardware and semiconductor startups, operated by the government-supported ventureLAB regional innovation centre in Markham, Ontario. Companies get up to 24 months of support with round-the-clock access to a prototyping and testing lab valued at over CAD 12 million, including Synopsys EDA, SolidWorks, OnShape and MathWorks tooling, plus dedicated advisors covering product design, IP strategy, customer engagement and financing. Eligibility is limited to Canadian-incorporated companies under five years old with under CAD 5 million trailing revenue, fewer than 99 employees, and at least two co-founders building novel electronic products such as custom semiconductors, sensors, silicon IP or embedded systems. The programme is free and takes no equity.
