New York Ventures

New York Ventures is the venture capital arm of Empire State Development (ESD), New York State's economic development agency. It deploys over $300 million in capital through four active equity programs: the $40M Pre-Seed and Seed Matching Fund (equity investments of $50K–$250K at pre-seed/seed stage, requiring 1:1 private-sector match); the $135M NYS Innovation Venture Capital Fund (direct investments at Seed through Series B, co-investing alongside a lead institutional or strategic investor); the $102M Emerging and Regional Partner Fund (fund-of-funds targeting diverse and emerging venture managers or those investing in undercapitalized NYS regions); and the $42M Community and Regional Partner Fund (fund-of-funds for managers partnering with accelerators and mentor-based programs). Funding from the U.S. Treasury's State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI, awarded 2022) supports several programs. NY Ventures focuses on technology companies headquartered in New York State across sectors including climate/energy, health tech, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, ag-tech, AI/data, and social impact SaaS, with an explicit emphasis on women, minority, and underserved-geography founders. Founders submit investment presentations directly via email or the online application portal.
