NIST Manufacturing USA

Manufacturing USA is a national network of public-private manufacturing innovation institutes coordinated by NIST, investing up to $70M in federal funds per institute over five years with matching private-sector contributions. Startups can participate as members of individual institutes to access collaborative R&D projects, shared facilities, and prototyping resources across areas like photonics, biopharmaceuticals, and advanced materials. The network has worked with over 2,500 member organizations including more than 1,500 small manufacturers on 670+ applied R&D projects. Funding is awarded through open, merit-based competitions that emphasize potential energy, environmental, and economic benefits.
