Northstar Ventures is a venture capital firm founded in 2004 and headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England. It invests in early and later-stage, high-growth companies tackling global challenges, with a primary focus on climate tech and healthy ageing, and secondary themes including the future of work and learning and the future of place. The firm manages multiple funds: the EIS Growth Fund (targeting late Seed to Series A companies with proven commercial traction in the north of England), the North East Spinout Inspire Fund (a £22.5m vehicle for university spinouts in the North East), and the Venture Sunderland Fund (for companies based in the Sunderland city region). Ticket sizes have been cited at £100k–£500k for early-stage investments. Northstar has invested in over 188 companies to date. Beyond capital, the firm offers portfolio support through its network of university partners, non-executive directors, and sector expertise.
