Vireo Ventures

Vireo Ventures is a Berlin-based early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2020, investing in European technology startups driving electrification and the energy transition. The firm operates as a pre-seed and seed investor, backing B2B companies across energy supply (decentralized renewables), midstream (smart grids, batteries, green hydrogen), and downstream (e-mobility, real estate, industrial applications). Its debut vehicle, the Electrification Fund I, closed at €50 million in September 2025, backed by six European energy utilities including Encevo, Verbund X, and EnBW New Ventures, as well as the European Investment Fund, NRW.BANK, and over 80 individual LPs. The team traces its roots to Innogy Ventures and subsequently operated as a private angel syndicate before formalizing as a VC firm. Vireo takes a hands-on approach, with LPs actively collaborating with portfolio companies on pilots and co-investments.
