AbbVie Ventures is the corporate strategic venture capital arm of AbbVie Inc., investing since 2009. It focuses exclusively on novel, transformational therapeutics at discovery and pre-clinical stages, with investments aligned to AbbVie's core R&D areas: oncology, immunology, neuroscience, obesity, and aesthetics. The firm targets six to eight new investments annually, predominantly at the Seed or Series A stage, and has the flexibility to create new companies or lead/co-lead syndicates. Its current portfolio comprises over 30 companies based in the US and Europe. Portfolio companies gain access to AbbVie's internal network of experts across all phases of drug development. The investment team operates globally from offices in Cambridge (MA), San Francisco (CA), Irvine (CA), Oxford (UK), Ludwigshafen (Germany), and Shanghai (China).
