The AMR Action Fund is the world's largest venture capital fund dedicated to investing in urgently needed antimicrobial therapeutics. Launched in 2020 and organized by the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) together with more than 20 leading biopharmaceutical companies, the European Investment Bank, and the Wellcome Trust, the fund has raised nearly $1 billion to invest in small and mid-size clinical-stage biotech companies developing novel antibiotics, antifungals, and other antimicrobials targeting WHO and CDC priority pathogens. The fund focuses on both traditional small-molecule compounds and innovative modalities such as bacteriophages and antibody treatments. It leads or co-leads investments, builds global syndicates with financial partners, and provides portfolio companies with technical support, industry expertise, and connections to its capabilities platform. Its stated goal is to bring 2–4 new antimicrobials to patients by 2030. Companies wishing to be considered can submit an introduction via the fund's website.
