BioGeneration Ventures
InvestorActiveBioGeneration Ventures (BGV) is a venture capital firm based in Naarden, Netherlands, investing primarily in European biotech, medtech and diagnostics companies. It backs early-stage therapeutics ventures addressing high unmet medical needs, often originating deals by licensing IP directly from universities and pharma R&D programs and assembling leadership teams around the asset; portfolio companies span rare disease, oncology, neurology and ophthalmology. BGV invests from company formation and seed through early clinical development, typically writing checks between roughly €100K and €1M with a sweet spot around €500K, and holds follow-on reserves to participate in Series A and selectively later rounds of its own portfolio companies. It generally acts as lead investor and takes board seats, drawing on experience from pharma and biotech operating roles and an industry network spanning universities and large pharmaceutical companies to help shape portfolio companies into investable, scientifically differentiated businesses. The firm is the early-stage platform affiliated with Forbion and closed its fifth fund, BGV V, at €150 million in 2023, bringing total assets under management to over €400 million.
