Calibrate Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm headquartered in Pasadena, California, founded in 2017 by Jason Schoettler and Kevin Dunlap, both veterans of Shea Ventures family office. The firm backs technical founders building deep-tech companies in AI, computer vision, machine learning, robotics, and automation, with a focus on sectors including manufacturing, transportation and logistics, food and agriculture, and healthcare. Calibrate targets companies generating under $5 million in recurring revenue and invests at the Seed and Series A stages, providing hands-on operational support in go-to-market strategy, marketing, and business development. The firm raised an $80 million debut fund in 2018 and closed a $97 million Fund II in December 2021, bringing total AUM to approximately $175 million. Calibrate operates as a partner-led firm with no junior investment staff. Portfolio companies include Built Robotics, FarmWise, GrayMatter Robotics, Collaborative Robotics, Parallel Domain, and Regard.
