Cambridge Innovation Capital

Cambridge Innovation Capital (CIC) is a Cambridge-based venture capital firm founded in 2013 that invests in deep tech and life sciences companies connected to the Cambridge ecosystem. CIC holds a proprietary agreement with the University of Cambridge, giving it privileged access to spinouts and IP from one of the world's leading science and technology clusters. Its early-stage funds target Seed and Series A opportunities, while its separately raised Opportunity Fund provides growth capital of up to £20M per investment into later-stage deep tech and life sciences companies. As of mid-2025, CIC manages approximately £600M in assets across more than 45 portfolio companies, having deployed over £350M and attracted more than £3.2bn in co-investment capital. Its most recent vehicle, Fund III (£250M), launched in August 2025 with a commitment of at least £100M earmarked for University of Cambridge spinouts. CIC also operates an Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) programme and is affiliated with two accelerators: Start Codon (life sciences) and Deeptech Labs (technology).
