GrantActiveThe Department of Transportation SBIR program funds small businesses developing innovative technologies to improve the safety, sustainability, and resilience of the nation's transportation infrastructure. Phase I awards up to $200,000 over 6 months, and Phase II/IIB awards typically do not exceed $1.5M over 2 years. Applicants must be U.S. small businesses at least 51% owned by U.S. citizens with 500 or fewer employees. DOT issues annual solicitations typically in the winter, though note that SBIR authorization expired September 30, 2025 and reauthorization is pending.
