GMC Life Sciences Fund
InvestorActiveThe GMC Life Sciences Fund (by Praetura / PXN Ventures) is a dedicated early-stage venture fund targeting life sciences businesses in Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and Warrington. Launched in May 2022 with an initial £20m, it is a partnership between Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA, contributing £10m), Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership (£5m), and Bruntwood SciTech (£5m), with the fund managed and deployed by PXN Ventures (formerly Praetura Ventures). The fund invests £50K–£2M per company into pre-revenue or revenue-generating businesses in biotech, therapeutics, pharmaceuticals, medtech, and digital health that are based in — or committed to relocating to — the Greater Manchester and Cheshire & Warrington region. Portfolio companies gain access to PXN's operational partner programme, portfolio toolkits, co-investor network for follow-on funding, and sector expert mentorship. A second fund (GMC Life Sciences Fund II) has also been raised, with Greater Manchester Combined Authority as sole LP.
