IAHR World Congress – 2026 status (after the 41st IAHR World Congress 2025)

The 42nd IAHR World Congress, titled 'Drive the Change: Management in the Era of Digital Water & Transitions,' will take place June 28 – July 2, 2027, in Bari, Italy, bringing together 2,000+ water engineers, hydrologists, environmental researchers, practitioners, and policy makers. Organized by the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research, the Congress addresses integrated water resource management, climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies, flood risk management and resilience, water for food security and energy transitions, and protection against water hazards and disasters. Thematic priority areas span sustainable water infrastructure development, ecosystem-based management approaches, digital transformation and smart water systems, nature-based solutions, and transboundary water governance frameworks. Bari 2027 is anchored by the 'Road to Bari' framework—an international mobilization process engaging IAHR technical committees, working groups, regional divisions, cities, and institutions in collaborative dialogue on pressing water challenges and transitions.
