The International Mountain Conference (#IMC) is a premier triennial symposium dedicated to interdisciplinary mountain research, sustainable mountain development, and climate adaptation strategies in high-altitude and rugged terrain regions. While 2026 sees no dedicated IMC conference—the next edition convenes September 10–14, 2028 in Innsbruck, Austria—mountain-focused sustainability initiatives advance through complementary UN forums. A UN dialogue on mountains and climate change is scheduled for June 8–18, 2026 in Bonn, Germany, reflecting heightened international recognition of mountains as critical climate change frontiers. This dialogue assembles climate negotiators, mountain scientists, and development practitioners to discuss integrated policy frameworks connecting climate action, sustainable development, and mountain resilience.
