Living Planet Symposium 2028

The Living Planet Symposium is ESA's premier triennial global forum bringing together the Earth observation, climate science, and sustainability community to translate satellite data into climate action and measurable environmental solutions. The 2025 Vienna symposium attracted 6,500+ participants from 120 countries with 4,200+ scientific presentations and 250+ specialized sessions. The 2028 edition will convene researchers, government officials, private sector innovators, and policymakers to discuss ESA satellite missions, the Copernicus program, and meteorological platforms. Core themes address how Earth observation supports climate monitoring, environmental management, disaster response, and sustainable development across agriculture, forestry, coastal management, and urban planning. The symposium features scientific presentations, collaborative agora sessions, emerging technology exhibitions, and policy dialogues exploring the transition from observation to measurable climate and sustainability outcomes, attracting 5,000–7,000 participants from government, academia, industry, and NGO sectors.
