Lunar Ventures is a Berlin-based pre-seed venture capital firm founded in 2017 by Dr. Elad Verbin, Mick Halsband, and Luis Shemtov. The firm backs technical deep-tech founders from day zero — pre-revenue, pre-traction — with a team of engineers, operators, and PhDs. Fund I (€40M, closed 2021) backed 25 companies including Zama, deepset, Molecule, Electric, and Hathora, several of which went on to raise from Spark Capital, Google Ventures, Founders Fund, and others. Fund II (€50M, announced May 2025) targets 25–30 pre-seed companies, writing initial checks of €750K–€1M and reserving 40–60% for follow-ons. Roughly 80% of Fund II is allocated to Europe, with ~20% to U.S. startups outside the Bay Area. Focus areas include AI infrastructure, privacy-enhancing technologies and cryptography, tech bio, science + ML, data infrastructure, new space, and robotics. The firm leads rounds and invests pre-revenue. LPs in Fund II include Isomer Capital, Exor's Lingotto, Intesa Sanpaolo Endowment, and Grinnell College Endowment. Contact via hello@lunar.vc.
