Westlake BioPartners (formally Westlake Village BioPartners) is a Los Angeles-area life science venture capital firm founded in September 2018 by Beth Seidenberg, M.D., formerly of Kleiner Perkins. The firm specializes in incubating and building early-stage biotechnology companies from the ground up, matching promising next-generation technologies with world-class entrepreneurs. It operates a concentrated, intentionally small portfolio to provide hands-on support from ideation and preclinical research through clinical and commercial impact. In July 2023, Westlake closed its third fund at $450 million, bringing total capital raised since inception to approximately $1.3 billion. The firm manages more early-stage venture capital solely from the greater Los Angeles area than any other firm and has formed more than 20 companies since founding. Portfolio companies include Recludix Pharma, Vedana Therapeutics, Star Therapeutics, Electra Therapeutics, and Oorja Bio. The firm is led by three managing directors: Beth Seidenberg, Mira Chaurushiya, and David Allison.
