FFG Basisprogramm

The FFG Basisprogramm is Austria bottom-up, open-topic national R&D funding line, supporting research and development through to prototype where a project shows a high degree of innovation and strong commercialisation potential. Maximum support is EUR 3M per project, delivered as a blend of non-repayable grant and loan: the standard package covers 50 percent of project costs, rising to as much as 70 percent for startups, with loan repayment deferred until five years after project end. Large enterprises, SMEs and startups are all eligible and single-company projects are accepted, so no consortium is required; firms classified as undertakings in difficulty under the EU General Block Exemption Regulation are excluded. Submission is continuous rather than deadline-driven, with the 2026 window running the full calendar year and applications filed at any time through the FFG eCall portal.
