The firm invests in alternative proteins and agricultural transformation, focusing on plant-based protein, biomass fermentation, and precision fermentation. It targets early-stage European startups at pre-seed and seed stage (with occasional pre-Series A or bridge participation), writing checks of €100K–€300K. Sprout & About never leads rounds and always co-invests alongside other investors. Beyond capital, it offers portfolio companies access to in-house scientists, production-at-scale expertise, fermentation and algae platforms, and worldwide distribution networks.
