ASBPA Coastal Summit 2026 (successor to “Coastal Resilience Summit”)

The ASBPA Coastal Summit 2026, Celebrating a Century: The Policy Summit for Coastal Communities, takes place March 24–26 at the National Association of Counties Building in Washington, D.C., convening coastal engineers, ecologists, municipal leaders, policymakers, and federal agency representatives addressing sea-level rise and climate-driven coastal hazards. The summit examines coastal adaptation strategies including living shorelines (oyster reefs and mangroves), nature-based solutions for wave attenuation and sediment management, structural defense optimization, and planned relocation when necessary. Sessions address redesigning ports and wastewater systems for higher sea levels, integrating ecological restoration with engineered protections, and balancing community needs with habitat preservation. Case studies from Atlantic and Gulf coasts illustrate lessons in co-benefits of hybrid approaches. ASBPA (American Society of Civil Engineers' Coasts, Oceans, Ports & Rivers Institute) organizes this biennial convening supporting sustainable coastal development.
