GrantActiveThe Department of Education SBIR, administered by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), provides up to $1.25M in two phases to develop and evaluate new education technology products. Phase I offers $250,000 over 8 months for rapid prototype development, and Phase II provides $1,000,000 for full-scale product development and rigorous evaluation. Applicants must be U.S. for-profit businesses with no more than 500 employees, at least 51% U.S.-owned, with the principal investigator employed by the business at least 51% of the time. This is a highly competitive program that typically funds 10-15 new Phase I awards from 175-275 proposals annually.
