'India 2047: Building a Climate-Resilient Future,' organized by India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in collaboration with Harvard's Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute and Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability, is a landmark four-day convening held in New Delhi. The 2025 edition (March 19–22) brought together 180+ scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and international experts to address climate adaptation and resilience priorities critical for the Global South, examining climate science implications for agriculture and water security, health impacts of climate change, labor adaptation and workforce resilience, and resilience in built environments and urban systems. Speakers included leading climate scientists, public health experts, agricultural specialists, economists, and government officials from India and major international institutions. The symposium emphasized evidence-based strategies for building climate-resilient food systems, protecting vulnerable populations, and integrating adaptation across economic sectors.
